Dr. Vien Cao

Initiative Leader, English for Tourism Coordinator

Vien earned her Ph.D. in learning systems design and technology and an M.A. in teaching English to speakers of other languages from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the U.S. Vien is currently a Professor of English as well as the Coordinator for the English Program at The Escuela Superior de Economía y Negocios (ESEN), El Salvador. She also directs the Center for English as a Second Language at ESEN. She specializes in English language teaching, instructional design, and program evaluation. 

Since 2020, Vien has led the Teachers Up program and then the Teachers Up Initiative. Vien is also a co-founder and the president of the Fulbright Alumni Research Group (FARGP), an organization devoted to research, training, evaluation, and coaching.

Vien has given keynotes, presentations, and workshops at a number of national and international conferences in El Salvador, Georgia, Singapore, the U.S., and Vietnam. Her  research interests include online learning, multimedia instruction, computer assisted language learning, evaluation & assessment, and research methods.
