Gerardo Melgar is currently a doctoral student in the Educational Psychology and Educational Technology program at Michigan State University. His research interests focus on professional development and its impact on teachers’ self-efficacy. Gerardo earned his Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Michigan State University under the sponsorship of the Fulbright Program. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics and an associate degree in English Teaching, both from Instituto Centro Cultural in El Salvador.
Gerardo currently serves as an instructor of record in the College of Education at Michigan State University, where he also holds a research assistantship. His teaching experience includes instructing pronunciation tutoring for international teaching assistants at Michigan State University (2022–2023). Prior to this, he worked for seven years (2015–2022) as a full-time teacher for Programa Empresarial ¡Supérate!. Gerardo is also a Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Program scholar (2020) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. In addition, he is a Global UGRAD scholar (2013–2014) and completed one academic year at Augustana University in South Dakota. |
