Online Professional English Network 

We are pleased to announce that Teachers Up is now accepting applications for the Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program. The OPEN program offers foreign English teaching professionals the opportunity to take innovative, online university-level classes. Participation in the program is FREE, and upon completion, participants will earn a completion certificate. However, scholarship recipients are expected to complete their chosen course. Failure to do so may jeopardize their chances of receiving another scholarship in the future and the number of scholarships awarded to Teachers Up.

Eligibility: Qualified candidates should:
  • Be a citizen of and reside in El Salvador at the time of the course
  • Not hold dual citizenship in the United States
  • Have the ability to complete academic work at a U.S. university level (CEFR approximately B2)
  • Have at least 8-10 hours per week to devote to coursework
  • Have regular access (4-5 times per week) to a reliable, internet-enabled device
Avaliable Courses: Nine different courses will be offered this time around as detailed in the list below. 
  • Developing and Teaching Academic Writing
  • Creating and Implementing Online Courses  
  • Fostering Student Motivation and Engagement  
  • Integrating Critical Thinking Skills into the Exploration of Culture 
  • Methodology for TESOL  
  • Professional Development for Teacher Trainers 
  • Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) *5-10 years old 
  • Teaching Grammar Communicatively 
  • Using Educational Technology in the English Language Classroom 
Important Spring Term Dates 
  • February 20: Participants’ self-registration deadline 
  • March 6: Orientation begins 
  • March 31: Deadline to complete the orientation  
  • April 11: Courses begin 
  • June 5: Courses end

If you are interested in participating, check the email address what you registered with Teachers Up for the application form.  Send your completed application to [email protected] by Saturday, January 21.
