Teacher of the Year Award

We are accepting nominations for the Teacher of the Year Award. This award aims to recognize teachers who have exhibited exemplary leadership and commitment to the art of teaching English. If you know an English teacher who has made a remarkable impact on their students' lives and has consistently demonstrated innovative teaching practices, we invite you to nominate them for this distinguished award.

Purpose
The annual Teacher of the Year Award recognizes and honors the hard work and dedication of exceptional English language teachers at all levels in El Salvador.


Eligibility
Any teacher of English who:
  • is a resident and citizen of El Salvador
  • is an active member of the Teachers Up community (If you are not, register here.)
  • has been a classroom teacher for a minimum of two years
  • is NOT a member of the Teachers Up core team.

Criteria
Nominees should demonstrate exceptional abilities in these categories:
  • Demonstrating excellence in English language teaching
  • Leading, serving, inspiring, and positively impacting students as well as colleagues and the community
  • Participating in professional activities such as workshops, curriculum development, committees, and the like.
  • Fostering a spirit of inquiry and a love of learning

Award
The winner of this award will receive:
  • A plaque
  • An assortment of books 
  • A Teachers Up limited-edition gift
  • A session as an invited speaker at the annual Teachers Up conference on June 12, 2026
  • TOEIC test vouchers
The award is presented during the Teachers Up national conference on June 12, 2026.

Application Process 

To apply, teachers submit four components via this Google form by May 31, 2026. 
1. CV
Applicants should submit an updated CV in English highlighting their educational background, teaching experience, certifications, professional development activities, leadership roles, presentations, publications, awards, community involvement, and other relevant professional accomplishments related to English language teaching. The CV should clearly demonstrate the applicant’s experience, growth, and contributions to the field of English language education.
2. Narrative (not to exceed one page)

In a narrative statement, applicants should reflect on their journey as English language educators and their impact on students, colleagues, and the community. Applicants may address topics such as:
  • Their educational and professional background
  • Their motivation for becoming an English teacher
  • Their philosophy or approach to English language teaching
  • Innovative practices or strategies used in the classroom
  • Their contributions to their school, institution, or community
  • Participation in professional development activities, leadership, research, mentoring, or curriculum development
  • Significant accomplishments, challenges, or experiences that have shaped their teaching
  • How they foster curiosity, engagement, and a love of learning among students
The narrative should provide a clear picture of the applicant’s commitment to excellence in English language teaching and professional growth.
3. Optional Supporting Materials
Applicants may optionally submit up to three supporting materials that demonstrate their impact as educators. These materials may include sample lesson materials, certificates, workshop presentations, classroom projects, student testimonials, photographs of learning activities, or other evidence of professional contributions and teaching excellence. Supporting materials are intended to enrich the application and provide additional context for the selection committee.

​Selection
Applications are reviewed by the Award Committee made up of the Teachers Up representative and previous Teacher of the Year Award winners and finalists.

This honor is limited to one recipient per year.
