Viva El Salvador Contest - Celebrating Salvadoran Culture and Attractions
We proudly present the Viva El Salvador Contest, an exciting initiative designed to showcase the splendors of this beautiful Central American nation. Objective: The Viva El Salvador Contest aims to promote Salvadoran culture and tourism by encouraging participants to create engaging and informative content about a tourist attraction or cultural festival in El Salvador. Participants can submit videos, brochures, websites, or social media pages to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of El Salvador. Submission Deadline: November 13, 2023 Submission Categories: Participants can choose one of the following categories for their submissions:
1. Choose Your Focus: Select a tourist attraction or cultural festival in El Salvador that you are passionate about and want to promote. Conduct research to gather information, images, and interesting facts about your chosen topic. 2. Create Your Content (Varies by category): Depending on your chosen category, create one of the following: Video Presentation: Produce a video (3-5 minutes) showcasing your chosen attraction or festival. Include visuals, narration, and music if desired. Brochure Design: Create an informative brochure (digital or printable) using graphics and text to provides details about the attraction or festival. Website Creation: Build a website (Google Slides, WordPress, or any suitable platform) that presents comprehensive information with text, images, and links. Social Media Page Creation: Build a social media page (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or TikTok) and create engaging social media posts to highlight your chosen attraction or festival. 3. Include Key Information: For all categories, make sure to include the following details:
Make your content visually appealing and engaging to capture the audience's attention. Use creativity and storytelling techniques to convey the charm and allure of the attraction or festival. 5. Prepare Your Submission (PDF or Online Link): Depending on your category, prepare your submission in one of the following formats:
Send your submission here. Include your full name, contact information, and the title of your entry in the email. 7. Evaluation and Winners: A panel of judges will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, informativeness, and overall presentation. Finalists will be announced on November 17. Teachers Up Community is invited to vote for the Viewer's Choice Award. Winners will be honored at the closing ceremony of the Teachers Up Initiative in November 2023. 8. Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and social networks to view and support your entry. The Viva El Salvador Contest is a wonderful opportunity to showcase your creativity and promote the beauty of El Salvador's cultural heritage and tourist attractions. Teaching English for Tourism Certificate
This 15-hour online certificate program in Teaching English for Tourism is for English teacher trainers and teachers of English in El Salvador. This certificate program will help teachers develop the language and skills needed to teach English for tourism. The program consists of three Zoom sessions on October 14, 21, and 28 (9 am to 11 am) and nine hours of independent study. Program Eligibility Requirements:

English for Tourism
The English for Tourism program provides learners with the skills and vocabulary for careers in tourism. The courses are open to any Salvadoran teachers of English, professionals in tourism, and students majoring in teaching English or tourism. The program consists of two modules: Module 1 meets from April 15 to May 27, 2023, and Module 2 from August 26 to September 23. English for Tourism classes will be offered on Saturdays in two schedules: from 8:30 am to 9:30 am and from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Classes will be taught on Zoom and will last for one hour. Students are expected to work asynchronously on class activities for two hours per week. Registration for Module 2 is now open till Tuesday, August 22, 2023. After registering, for the purpose of diagnosis, new participants (those who did not complete Module 1) will take a required English entry test which will not affect the status of the registration. Eligible registrants will receive a confirmation email containing the link to the entry test. They need to complete the entry test by Wednesday, August 23, 2023. We have limited spaces available and will be accepting participants on a first-come, first-served basis. There are five classes in Module 2. If participants complete all of the following criteria, they will be awarded a completion certificate.
