Excellent Use of Technology in the Classroom Award

We are excited to announce the Excellent Use of Technology in the Classroom Award for outstanding teachers of English in El Salvador!

Award Description
The Excellent Use of Technology in the Classroom Award, a part of the Teachers Up Initiative, honors teachers of English who demonstrate innovative and impactful use of technology to improve student engagement, learning outcomes, and overall classroom experience. This award is designed to recognize teachers who have effectively integrated digital tools, platforms, or creative tech-based teaching methods that contribute to a more dynamic and accessible English language learning environment.

Award Categories
To ensure we celebrate excellence across all educational settings, the award will be divided into two categories:
  1. K-12 and Language Academy Teachers: Open to teachers working with students from kindergarten through high school or in language academies.
  2. Higher Education Teachers: Open to educators teaching English at the university level or teacher trainers in higher education institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Be a Salvadoran citizen and resident
  • Be a Teachers Up member
  • Be an active classroom teacher in any of the above categories

Award Evaluation
Applications will be reviewed by the Award Review Board, which consists of:
  • Teachers Up Founders: Visionaries behind the initiative, with a deep understanding of the mission to support and elevate English educators in El Salvador.
  • Teachers of the Year Winners: Previous award recipients with proven excellence in teaching and a commitment to educational innovation.
  • Educational Technology Experts: Specialists in integrating technology into classroom settings, who will evaluate the effectiveness and creativity of tech-based teaching practices.

The evaluation criteria will include:
  • Innovation and Creativity: How uniquely and effectively technology is used to enhance English learning.
  • Impact on Students: Demonstrated improvement in student engagement, participation, and learning outcomes due to the use of technology.
  • Sustainability and Scalability: The potential for the teaching strategies and tools to be sustained over time and possibly replicated by other English teachers.
  • Contribution to Digital Literacy: Efforts made to increase students’ comfort and skills with using digital tools in their learning journey.
This rigorous evaluation process ensures that the most deserving educators are recognized for their dedication to pushing the boundaries of traditional English teaching with technology.

Application Process:
To apply for this award, please submit the following materials:
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Highlighting your teaching experience, qualifications, and any relevant technology-focused professional development.
  • Explanation of Technology Use (500 words max): Provide a detailed description of how you’ve integrated technology into your English classroom. Be sure to include specific tools or platforms you use; how technology has impacted student engagement and learning outcomes; and examples of challenges and successes
