Student of The Year Award

We are accepting applications for the brand-new Student of the Year Award. 

Purpose
The Student of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding fourth- or fifth-year university student in El Salvador majoring in Teaching English who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and active involvement in the English teaching community and shows strong potential to make a meaningful impact in the profession.
 
Eligibility
Candidates must:
  1. Be in their fourth or fifth year of a university program majoring in Teaching English or Applied Linguistics in El Salvador
  2. Have a minimum GPA of 8.0/10 (or equivalent)
  3. Be actively engaged in Teachers Up activities (conferences, webinars, workshops, classes, volunteering, etc.)
  4. Show active involvement in community service, student leadership, or extracurricular initiatives related to English language education
 
How to Apply
Submit your own application by September 12, 2025.
 
Applications must include:
  1. Application form
  2. Unofficial transcript (showing your complete name, year of study, university, and GPA)
  3. Personal Statement (max 500 words) describing:
    • Journey toward becoming an English teacher
    • Contributions to the English teaching community
    • Leadership and service experiences
    • Future professional goals and potential
  4. Two professional references (names and contact information; at least one must be a professor or supervisor. References will only be contacted for shortlisted applicants.)
  5. Evidence of involvement (certificates, project photos, publications, event participation, etc.).
 
Selection Process
  1. Application Review – Teachers Up Award Panel evaluates all submissions.
  2. Interviews – Shortlisted candidates will participate in an online interview between September 16-17, 2025. They may also be asked to provide clarification or additional supporting materials.
  3. References Contacted – Professional references submitted by finalists will be contacted.
  4. Winner Announcement – The award winner will be announced at the Teachers Up National Conference on September 26, 2025.

  • Certificate & plague presented at the Teachers Up National Conference
  • Feature post on Teachers Up social media
  • One-year mentorship with a Teachers Up mentor
  • Sponsored professional development opportunity (conference pass, workshop, or scholarship)
